Mod DB has announced the winners of their 7th Annual Mod of the Year Awards, which celebrate the most creatively remastered video games and game modifications.

The big prize this year goes to the creators of Project Reality, a mod for EA's Battlefield 2 game that strives to deliver the most realistic combat environment possible. The team has tweaked the game's physics, visual effects, and overall play style while adding new factions to the game. Project Reality took second place for Mod of the Year in 2006 and 2007, so this year they finally get their chance to shine.

Submitted by: Das Capitolin @ 01:37 PM | Tuesday, January 6, 2009 | (url: http://benchmarkr...)

From my experience, 2008 has been a very good year for CPU coolers. We've tested the OCZ Vendetta 2 to perform as well or better than coolers twice its price, and we've discovered that the Thermaltake V14 Pro can deliver top cooling performance while looking good. But heading into 2009 we must bid farewell to the LGA775 platform, which has been the home to many of our most popular products, and welcome in the new LGA1366 socket for the Intel Core i7 CPU & X58 platform. This Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q4 2008 article will be the last foreseeable socket T series round-up from Benchmark Reviews, unless something really big changes the landscape.

Benchmark Reviews tests a lot of very good computer hardware, which is a result of our selection process for product reviews. Although it would be most ideal for a hardware review website to test each and every item sold on the retail market, it's just not feasable due to limited staff and budget. As a result, many of the products featured here are among the best consumers will find. This year Benchmark Reviews Executive Editor Olin Coles delivers his nominations for the 2008 Editors Choice Award for each category: CPU Coolers, Desktop Processors, Solid State Drives, Desktop Graphics Cards, Computer Cases, System Memory, and Desktop Motherboards.
